Traditional Steels

Traditional sharpening steels are defined by a shaft made from a steel material, these will vary from different lengths normally 8" to 14" rod. shaft shapes can vary between round, oval and square, all having unique applications. These sharpening steels have the largest variety of Cuts ranging from course cuts through to polished finishes.

Course cuts would include Helical and Knurled cuts but not limited to, these cuts are designed to be used from time to time to bring an edge back for use once dull.

Medium cuts are designed to be used more often than course but less often than fine to help sharpen and maintain a good working edge, these are the most common sharpening steels available.

Fine Cuts would include Fine and super fine cuts but not limited to, these cuts are designed to be used weekly or even daily depending on use. Fine cut steels are predominantly used for commercial applications or kitchen use to maintain a sharp edge.

Polished Cuts are designed to be used frequently and lightly to stand up and keep a knives edge sharp before any noticeable loss to the knifes edge has taken place.
