Not only do our Diamond Sharpening Steels have a surface which is embedded with Diamonds, they also feature the same solid, fully hardened, high carbon chrome vanadium blades as our conventional Steels. This provides a super-durable sharpening surface which, unlike the hollow or soft-substrate types on the market, will not be damaged during use. Independent tests prove that our Diamond Steel dramatically out performs others on the market. This Steel blade is also chrome plated for extra surface protection. The Steel is fitted with a sterilisable, non-absorbent polypropylene handle with a 1.5" square guard and stainless steel diamond-shaped hanging ring.
Sheffield is synonymous with steel and is the historic birthplace of knife making. In Sheffield the word 'cutlery' refers to 'that which cuts'. For more than 700 years, Sheffield knives and cutlery have been created by highly skilled Sheffield craftsmen, and our company names are amongst the most famous in the industry’s history. The first reference to a Sheffield cutler dates to 1297. In the 1370s, Chaucer described a Sheffield 'thwitel' (a straight wooden-handled knife) on the belt of a Miller in The Reeve's Tale.
We have been manufacturing Sharpening Steels since 1872 and are a leading supplier to the butchery, food processing and catering industries.
Other companies may apply their brand names to imported products, but we are proud to produce Sharpening Steels here in our own Sheffield factory. Manufactured by experts in knife sharpening, our Sharpening Steels and Diamond Steels are recognised by professionals the world over for their outstanding quality - they perfectly compliment and ensure optimum performance for all of the leading knife brands.
What Is an Egginton Diamond Cut?
